lt all started at the end of the XIXth Century, with the La Bâthie plant in Savoie, France, dedicated to the production of abrasives from the very beginning. La Bathie is an historical Pechiney plant and was part of the specialty alumina business among Pechiney, Alcan, Rio Tinto and Alteo (Spin-off of the Rio Tinto Specialty Alumina business).
In 2016, La Bathie was divested by Alteo and Joined New Day Aluminium under the name of Niche Fused Alumina.
Eight years later (Oct. 2024), the plant joined Alteo back and became Alteo Fused Alumina.
Today, Alteo belongs to UMSI, a major mining company in the aluminium value chain with strong assets in West Africa and Europe. The integration of La Bathie in Alteo makes the company much more robust with direct access to alumina raw material. Alteo’s plan for La Bathie is to support the industrial transformation through sustaining and developments investments
